Spirits

About the humans spirit, there are many who believe that humans were spirits in another realm before they were born and that Satan was thrown out of heaven down to earth long ago. What does the Bible teach on this subject?

Hebrews 1:7 "And of the angels he saith, Who maketh his angels spirits, and his ministers a flame of fire." angels are spirits. Speaking of man "Thou madest him a little lower than the angels.." (Hebrew 2:7) Man is not an angel. Luke 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. Jesus confirmed that the resurrection/ Rapture would be a translation of the body, not of a spirit. (see John 5:29; Acts 1:22; 2:31, 24:15). In John 3:6 Jesus states: That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth; so is every one that is born of the Spirit. A birth is a new being according to this the spirit of the Spirit cannot be identified. Capital "S" in the word Spirit is God and He begets His spirit in men and women. Jesus is talking to physical human beings that they must be born again of the Spirit. They are not alive in the spirit until God begets their spirit in their flesh. The Apostle Paul confirms that spirit was not before flesh: "It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body.  There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the  last  Adam [was made] a quickening  spirit.  Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly. Now  this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood  cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. (1 Corintians 15:44-50)

And  the  LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the  ground,  and breathed  into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became  a living soul. (Genesis 2:7) It does not mention anything about spirit . Spirit and soul are not the same thing. The spirit is inherent in the soul. In Christ spirit and soul become separated and become two: spirit (spirit from God) and soul (body)
But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury  their dead. (Matthew 8:22) He was pointing out nonbelievers.

Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and [that] the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16) What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost [which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? (1 Corinthians 6:19)

About Lucifer also known as Satan: in the Book of Luke and Revelation are references. "And he (Jesus) said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning  fall from heaven. (Luke 10:18) The Lord dwells between Cherubims (see Psalm 80:1) Satan is a Cherub allluded to in Ezekiel 28:15-19 where God addresses his beauty and multitude of iniquities and speaks of the future for Satan in relation to God. ".. will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall devour thee, and I will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee."

References are in John 12:31,32 : Now is the judgment of this world; now shall the prince of this world be cast out. And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me."; 16:11: Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. Also in Revelation 9:1, 12:8,9.His angels were cast out with him, angels that kept not their first estate. Events leading up to the judgment in Revelation 9:1:

The  first  angel  sounded, and there  followed  hail  and  fire mingled  with blood, and they were cast upon the earth:  and  the third  part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was  burnt up. And  the second angel sounded, and as it were a  great  mountain
burning  with fire was cast into the sea: and the third  part  of the sea became blood; And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea,  and had  life, died; and the third part of the ships were  destroyed. And  the third angel sounded, and there fell a great star from heaven,  burning  as it were a lamp, and it fell upon  the  third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters; And the name of the star is called Wormwood: and the third  part of  the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the  waters,
because they were made bitter. And the fourth angel sounded, and the third part of the sun  was smitten,  and the third part of the moon, and the third  part  of the stars; so as the third part of them was darkened, and the day shone not for a third part of it, and the night likewise.  (Revelation 8:2-12)

And  the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from  heaven unto  the earth: and to him was given the key of  the  bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them  was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have  power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree;  but  only those  men  which have not the seal of God  in  their  foreheads. And  in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find  it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. (Revelation 9:1-5)

And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a  great red  dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and  seven  crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast  them  to the earth: and the dragon stood before  the  woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as  soon
as it was born. (Revelation 12:3,4) And  there  was  war in heaven: Michael and  his  angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,  And  prevailed  not; neither was their place found any  more  in heaven. And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called  the Devil,  and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he  was  cast out  into  the  earth, and his angels were  cast out  with  him. And  I  heard  a  loud  voice saying  in  heaven,  Now  is  come salvation,  and  strength, and the kingdom of our  God,  and  the power  of  his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren  is  cast down,  which accused them before our God day and night. And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the  word of  their  testimony;  and they loved not their  lives unto  the death. Therefore rejoice, [ye] heavens, and ye that dwell in them.  Woe to  the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil  is come  down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth  that he hath but a short time. (Revelation 12:7-12)

The prince of the power of  the  air (Satan), is  the spirit  that now worketh in the children of disobedience:  (see Ephesians 2:2). He controls the spirits of infirmity, dumb spirits, foul spirits, deaf spirits, and all the spirits of various iniquities.
