The Sun Serves As A Signpost

THE FIRST EVENT, THE PROMISED LAND

Joshua and the children of Israel crossed the Jordan. "So  Joshua took the whole land, according to all that  the  LORD said unto  Moses;  and Joshua gave it for  an  inheritance  unto Israel according to their divisions by their tribes. And the land
rested from war." (Joshua 11:23) During his battles on one occasion "..  the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the  people
had avenged themselves upon their enemies. [Is] not this  written in  the  book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the  midst  of heaven,  and  hasted not to go down about a  whole  day."  (Joshua 10:13)

THE SECOND EVENT, THE CRUCIFIXION

"And  it was about the sixth hour, and there was  a  darkness over  all  the earth until the ninth hour. And  the  sun  was
darkened,  and the veil of the temple was rent in the  midst.  And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into
thy  hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave  up the ghost. (Luke 23:44-46)

THE THIRD EVENT, THE DAY OF THE LORD

The Word of the Lord has left the earth at this point. Jesus Christ is the Word. His Church, His Body, had His Word contained within it. The Following Scriptures state that the Church has left because the Word of the Lord cannot be found anywhere. The Rapture has taken place.

"And  it shall come to pass in that day, saith the  Lord  GOD, that  I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day: And I will turn your feasts  into mourning,  and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and  I will  make  it  as the mourning of an only  [son],  and the  end thereof  as  a bitter day. Behold, the days come,  saith  the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine  of bread,  nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words  of  the LORD:  And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from  the north  even  to the east, they shall run to and fro to  seek  the word of the LORD, and shall not find [it]. (Amos 8:9-12)

"Alas for the day! for the day of the LORD [is] at hand, and as a destruction from the Almighty shall it come. (Joel 1:15) "The seed is rotten under their clods, the garners  are  laid desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is withered. How  do  the  beasts groan! the herds of  cattle  are  perplexed, because  they have no pasture; yea, the flocks of sheep are made desolate. O LORD, to thee will I cry: for the fire hath devoured the pastures of the wilderness, and the flame hath burned all the trees of the field. " (Joel 1:17,18,19)  "Blow  ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in  my  holy mountain:  let all the inhabitants of the land tremble:  for  the day  of  the LORD cometh, for [it is] nigh at hand; A  day  of darkness  and  of gloominess,  a day  of  clouds  and  of  thick darkness,  as  the  morning spread upon the  mountains:  a  great people  and a strong; there hath not been ever the like,  neither shall  be  any  more  after  it, [even]  to  the  years  of  many generations.

"A fire devoureth before them; and behind them  a flame  burneth: the land [is] as the garden of Eden before  them, and  behind them a desolate wilderness; yea, and  nothing  shall escape them." (Joel 2:1-3) The  earth shall quake before them; the heavens shall  tremble: the sun and the moon shall be dark, and the stars shall  withdraw their shining: (Joel 2:10)

Speaking to Israel: "Let the priests, the ministers of the LORD, weep between  the porch and the altar, and let them say, Spare thy people, O  LORD, and give not thine heritage to reproach, that the heathen  should rule over them: wherefore should they say among the people, Where [is]  their God? Then will the LORD be jealous for his  land, and pity his people. (Joel 2:17,18)

"And there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a woman  clothed with  the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head  a crown  of  twelve  stars:  And she  being  with  child  cried, travailing  in  birth, and pained to be delivered. And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having  seven  heads  and ten horns, and seven  crowns upon  his heads.   And  his tail drew the third part  of  the  stars  of heaven,  and  did cast them to the earth: and  the  dragon stood before  the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to  devour her child as soon as it was born." (Revelation 12:1-4)

"And it shall come to pass afterward, [that] I will pour  out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters  shall
prophesy,  your old men shall dream dreams, your young men  shall see  visions:  And  also upon  the  servants  and  upon  the
handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit. And I will shew  wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood,  and  fire,
and pillars of smoke. The sun shall be turned into  darkness, and the moon into blood, before the great and the terrible day of the  LORD come. And it shall come to pass,  [that]  whosoever shall  call  on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for  in mount  Zion  and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as  the  LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call. (Joel 2:28-32)

"The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come: And it shall come to pass [that] whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." (Acts 2:20,21) "And  I beheld when he had opened the sixth seal, and, lo,  there was a great earthquake; and the sun became black as sackcloth  of
hair, and the moon became as blood;
(Revelation 6:12)

"The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars  shall withdraw their shining. The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall  shake: but the LORD [will be] the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. (Joel 3:15,16)

THE FOURTH EVENT, ARMAGEDDON

"The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a  great people;  a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of  nations  gathered
together:  the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.  They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, [even] the LORD,  and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy  the  whole land. Howl ye; for the day of the LORD [is] at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty." (Isaiah 13:4-6)

" Behold,  the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with  wrath  and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it. For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give  their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going  forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine." (Isaiah 13:9,10)

"And the fourth angel poured out his vial upon the sun; and power was given unto him to scorch men with fire. (Revelation 16:8) "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and  in the  stars;  and  upon  the  earth  distress  of  nations, with perplexity;  the  sea  and the waves roaring;  Men's  hearts failing  them for fear, and for looking after those things  which
are  coming  on  the earth: for the powers  of  heaven  shall  be shaken.  And then shall they see the Son of man coming  in  a
cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for  your
redemption draweth nigh. (Luke 21:25-28)

" For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem: thou shalt weep no  more: he will be very gracious unto thee at the voice of thy cry; when he shall hear it, he will answer thee." (Isaiah 30:19) "And there shall be upon every high mountain, and upon  every
high hill, rivers [and] streams of waters in the day of the great slaughter,  when the towers fall. Moreover the light  of  the
moon  shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the  sun shall  be sevenfold, as the light of seven days,
in the day  that the  LORD  bindeth up the breach of his people, and  healeth  the stroke of their wound." (Isaiah 30:19, 25, 26)

THE FIFTH EVENT, THE NEW JERUSALEM

"And the twelve gates [were] twelve pearls; every several gate was of one pearl: and the street of the city [was] pure gold,  as
it  were transparent glass. And I saw no temple therein:  for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it.  And
the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it:  for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb [is]  the light thereof.
And the nations of them which are saved  shall walk  in  the light of it: and the kings of the  earth  do bring their glory and honour into it. And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there. And
they shall bring the glory and honour of the nations into it. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither [whatsoever] worketh abomination, or [maketh] a lie:  but they  which are written in the Lamb's book of  life."  (Revelation
21:21-27)
